_ Timber Hawk at River Bend is a private residential
community, hidden along the mountainside off Route 100 in Stockbridge,
VT. Stockbridge is a small town located in central Vermont along the
White River Valley approximately 15 minutes north of Killington.
The
Timber Hawk development (and its sister colonies: Hawk Mountain in
Pittsfield and Great Hawk in Rochester) was conceived by the well-known
architect, Robert Williams. He formed Hawk Mountain Corporation which
also developed the Hawk Mountain Resort in Plymouth, VT.
Timber
Hawk consists of approximately 120 acres of residential property and
another 30 or so acres of common land. Our recreational area, located on
a peninsula between the White and Tweed Rivers, provides space for
Tennis (2 courts), fishing, swimming, picnicking or just strolling along
the river's edge.
Recreation
_Timber Hawk is ideally situated in central Vermont. There are lots of recreational opportunities for you to explore:
Timber
Hawk is convenient to many near-by recreational facilities, whether
it's hiking, golfing or bicycling during the warmer months or skiing,
XC, snow shoeing or getting out on a snow machine during winter. We are
also a stones throw from thousands of protected acreage that make up the
Green Mountain National Forest.
Winter
_Timber Hawk is perfect for downhill skiers since it is convenient to Killington, Pico, Suicide Six, Sugarbush and Mad River. Cross-country skiers love it too because it's a short ride to several XC areas including Mountain Top, Mountain Meadows, Blueberry Hill, Woodstock XC just to name a few.
Plus you can do what the locals do and XC on the logging roads (it's great for snowshoeing too). And, of course, there's also snowmobiling along the near-by trails maintained by the local clubs.
Summer and Fall
There's lots to do. Hiking is a great way to be outdoors and get close to nature. We especially like the Chittenden Campground area, Texas Falls, Mt. Tom and Silver Lake (near the Falls of Lana).
Fishing is available at any nearby river or pond. The same goes for swimming, tubing or kayaking. Take your mountain bike off the beaten track on any one of a number of logging roads.
There are 2 regulation tennis courts right at Timber Hawk. Prefer golf instead? There are at least four 18 hole golf courses within a half hour's drive.
And don't forget the brilliant fall foliage in October.
